General Info & Rules
Aquatic Center Information
- Do not enter the pool if you have a communicable disease or an open cut.
- Shower before entering the pool and after use of toilet facilities.
- No food, drink, or gum are allowed in the pool or on the pool deck.
- No carry in food or drink (with the exception of water) is allowed.
- All patrons must wear a swimsuit appropriate for a family-friendly environment, no cut-off shorts, thongs, etc. are allowed.
- Do not run or engage in rough play in the pool or locker room area, No horseplay, such as running, pushing, dunking, throwing others, etc.
- Do not climb on any of the attractions structures.
- Diving, twisting or jumping backwards from the side of the pool is not allowed.
- Follow instructions on the slides: swim test, height requirements, diving well, no goggles and any other instructions.
- Do not bring animals into the pool area. Service animals are allowed on deck but not in the pool.
- Diaper changes on the pool deck is prohibited.
- Non-toilet trained children must wear a swim diaper. Swim diapers are available for purchase at the admissions desk.
- Glass and shatter-able items are prohibited in the pool area.
- All children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Remember to treat all patrons, staff, equipment, and facilities with respect.
- This is a smoke free facility, tobacco use is prohibited, this includes vaping.
- Be mindful of the weather, for your safety the pool will be closed during severe weather.
- All persons entering the pool must have a membership, pay the daily fee, or be a program participant.
- Persons under the influence of alcohol or any judgement-impairing substance will not be admitted to the facility.
- Non-swimmers may only use the shallow areas of the pool and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Only Coast Guard approved life jackets are allowed in the pool. All children using a life jacket must be within an arms length of an adult at all times.
- Swim goggles are allowed, swim goggles are available for purchase at the admissions desk.
- No inflatable toys or devices are allowed. **Balls for water basketball or water volleyball will be provided by staff when activity is offered.
- Lap pool maximum capacity is 385
- Activity pool maximum capacity is 361

Zero Depth
- Parents must be within arm's reach of kids who are wearing a life jacket or puddle jumper
- Life jackets and puddle jumpers are the ONLY approved personal flotation devices allowed (no baby islands, inflatable wings, etc.).
- No rough play
- Patrons are not allowed to be on each other's shoulders.
- No diving, flips, or running from deck into pool, or pushing other patrons into the pool.
- No hanging, climbing, or swimming under the railing.
- ONLY soft balls/balls smaller than a regular size football are allowed
- Patrons must keep a reasonable distance
- If it becomes too busy or an issue, patrons will be asked to put away their ball or it may be taken by a lifeguard.
Current Channel
- Swimmers using a life jacket or puddle jumpers must be with an adult.
- MUST be in an inner tube, unless an adult is accompanying a younger child
- one adult may push walking behind them
- Riders must be inside or on top of their inner tubes, no swimming underneath
- One inner tube per person
- Inner tubes must stay in the current channel
- Must follow the direction of the current
- No standing, climbing, or sitting on the concrete dividing ledge
Kiddie Pool
- Kids must go down one at a time on the slide
- Must go down feet first on their bottoms
- If they are big enough to use the adult slides, they are too big for the little slide (under 48'')
- Parents must be within arms reach of kids under 5 and/or who are wearing a lifejacket or puddle jumper (no baby islands, inflatable wings)
Lap Pool
- Basketball hoop:
- no hanging on the rim
- no rough housing over the ball
- no throwing basketballs at each other, or diving in shallow water to get the ball
- If the basketball hoop becomes an issue, the basketball will be put away for a temporary time.
- ONLY soft balls/balls smaller than a regular size football are allowed
- Patrons must keep a reasonable distance
- If it becomes too busy or an issue, patrons will be asked to put away their ball or it may be taken by a lifeguard.
- Parents must be within arms reach of kids under 5 and/or who are wearing a life jacket or puddle jumper
- No diving, flips, or running from deck into pool
- No pushing other patrons into the pool/rough play
- No hanging/climbing on lane lines
- Swimmers must keep out of lanes unless swimming laps or taking a swim test
- Patrons are not allowed to be on each other's shoulders
Diving Well
- No back flips
- One bounce on the board
- One person on the board at a time
- Once someone is on the diving boards, they must jump off
- They are not allowed to go back down the ladder unless assisted by a firefighter
- Patrons waiting for rock climbing wall must stand on deck
- Must leave diving well immediately after entering
- Patron may go off diving board once the person in front of them has reached the latter
- No running, diving, standing, kneeling, rotating, or stopping in the slides
- Lifeguards and staff reserve the right to stop any behavior deemed unsafe
- Must go to the ladder closest to the diving board they used
- Kids 10 and younger must pass a swim test to go on the diving board amenities
All Slides
- Only allowed to go one at a time
- Must go to the ladder closest to the slide they used
- Kids 10 and younger must be 48'' or have passed a swim test to go on the slides
- Must be feet first and on their back the whole way down the slide - no stopping in the slides
- Maximum weight is 250 lbs
- No pregnant women or heart conditions advised
- No zippers, buckles, rivets, life jackets, or puddle jumpers allowed
- Must hold glasses (sunglasses) or goggles while riding
- No running, diving, standing, kneeling, rotating, or stopping in the slides
- Must leave plunge pool immediately after entering
- No goggles or swim shoes
The following is a list of items that are prohibited at the Burlington Community Aquatic Center:
- Food (exceptions for baby food, formula, and special dietary restrictions)
- Beverages (except water)
- Alcohol
- Glass
- Knives
- Firearms/ Ammunition
- Flotation devices and noodles
- Non Coast Guard approved life jackets
- Water wings (puddle jumpers are allowed)
- Tents
- Fireworks
- Use of drones on pool property
Diving Boards, Climbing Wall, Aqua Zip, and Yellow Slide:
Patrons age 10 and under, must pass the swim test (and wear the swim test bracelet) to use these amenities.
Ask the lifeguard at the bottom of the green and blue slides to take the swim test!
Green and Blue Slides:
Patrons must be taller than 48'' or be able to pass the swim test to use the blue and green slides.

To PASS the Swim Test:
- Be able to swim 25 meters (one length across the pool) while performing the front crawl
- Arms MUST consistently come above the water with each stroke (no doggy paddling)
- WITHOUT the aid of goggles, life-vests or another person
- Only allowed to attempt the test twice per day
A Swimmer May FAIL If They:
- Push off the bottom of the pool
- Need to grab the landline or wall
- Do not consistently get their arms out/above the water
- Cannot swim in a straight line/don't know what direction they are swimming
- Appear to be struggling
- Cannot complete the test in a timely manner
- Have not shown sufficient skill to enter deep water
Weather and Temperature
65 degrees and below – The pool will be closed.
66 degrees and above – The pool will make every effort to stay open but will be dependent on attendance.
Thunder and Lightning
The pool will be cleared immediately and closed at the first indication of thunder or lightning. No one will be permitted to enter the water until at least 30 minutes after the last indication of thunder or lightning.
Rain/strong winds
If on any occasion rain and strong wind impair the guards ability to observe patrons in the pool, they will either close a section of the pool or the entire pool until the guards can clearly see all portions of the pool.
Hazardous Material
Any hazardous materials in the pools may cause the pools to be shut down 8 hours for the large deep pool and 2 hours for the shallow pool. This allows time for the pool water to be completely filtered. Hazardous materials include: vomit, feces, and any other materials hazardous to human health.
Regular summer hours are:
Weekdays: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Weekends: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Member Early Access
Weekdays: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
2025 RESIDENT MEMBERSHIP
Proof of residency within the City of Burlington is required to purchase a membership at the resident rate.
If you are unsure of your residency status, please contact Burlington City Hall to verify. Accepted as proof of residency will be a driver’s license or utility bill (water, electric, phone) dated within the last month.
The Aquatic Center will make membership fee adjustments based on residency.

- For the immediate family residing at the same City of Burlington address. A family membership consists of a maximum of 2 adults or guardians and up to 4 dependent children. Additional children living at the same address can be added to the membership for $25/each. Children 2-years-old and younger are free of charge and do not need to be included on the membership.
- Day care providers are not included in family memberships, they must purchase a Caregiver Pass or use day passes supplied by the family.

The Burlington Community Aquatic Center offers of full menu of tasty foods – from traditional hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza and fresh fruit and similar food offerings. The menu offers a wide array of price points to fit a wide array of appetites and budgets.
All food must be eaten in the designated areas and is not allowed in the pool or on the deck surrounding the pool.
No carry-ins are allowed so plan your day accordingly to take best advantage of the food offered. If you wish to bring your own food, we welcome you to use our picnic areas outside of the pool which includes picnic tables and a pavilion. We do allow re-entry into our facility.
FOOD AND DRINK POLICY
For everyone’s safety, we do not allow food, coolers, or beverages (including alcohol) into the aquatic center, with the exception of water. We have water fountains in the pool area.
We will also make exceptions for baby food and formula. Upon entry all bags are subject to inspection, just let our team member know if you plan to bring baby food or formula into the facility.
